Best American Sportswriting |
Best American Sports Writing, 2006: "It's the oddballs, though, that really let the writers shine. Take Charlie Schroeder's "A (Fishing) Hole in One," about the off-the-grid "sport" of poaching fish from golf-course lakes." Bill Ott Booklist
"...there may have been a funnier and less reverent sports story written in America last year than Charlie Schroeder's account of the quest for big bass in the water hazards of America, but I haven't read it." Michael Lewis, Guest Editor Best American Sports Writing 2006

A Weekend America "Favorite" |
On August 18th, 2007 Weekend America re-aired my story "Dunk Dreams" as part of their "Favorite Stories" show. Why? Because listening to me tear leg muscles is funny, I guess. That's what I get for not following through with my belly dancing classes. Eavesdrop on my pain here.

Kiss and Tell |
Darren Star, creator of Sex and the City, had this to say about me: Sometimes the smallest roles are the hardest to cast. Mr. Pussy had only one line but he had to eat a fig and an oyster in the episode. So I had all the actors do their thing on the orange slice. With some of the guys you wanted to take a shower afterwards, and then we found the one guy who did it in a funny way. The key with all these shows is finding the guy who'll make it funny and not scary. From Amy Sohn’s Sex and the City book “Kiss and Tell.” Buy it here and help support my website.
